Portrait
Last class we created a 2 inch grid on our papers and portraits and took pictures.
- Draw the outline around the edge of your face and head, including your hair, clothes, and ears.
MOUTH
Add a 1 inch grid in the area of the mouth on the drawing paper and a 1/2 inch grid on your picture. Grid even smaller for best results.
Add mouth lines including upper and lower lip lines. Draw the teeth very lightly if you can see them. Pay attention to where the lip lines cross the grid lines
NOSE
Add a 1 inch grid in the area of the mouth on the drawing paper and a 1/2 inch grid on your picture. Grid even smaller for best results.
Draw the nose lobes and nostrils. DO NOT outline the upper part of the nose. You will shade this later.

Evaluate Your Eyes, Nose and Mouth
After you upload your drawings answer the following:
1. Rank the difficulty of your drawings. Which was the easiset? The most difficult?
2. In which drawing did you use the least amount of LINE?
3. Which drawing used the most amount of VALUE?
4. What would you improve upon next time? What will you do differently?
5. On a scale of 1-10, how well did you perservere while drawing? If you think you gave up easily give yourself a lower score, but if you really stuck to it, even though you got discouraged, give yourself a higher score.

Pumpkin Drawing - Self Evaluation
Post both drawings of your pumpkin. For each specific drawing answer the questions.
Drawing from observation
Describe how you used different tones, effects, techniques and why.
Describe the difficulties you had and how you tried to overcome them.
Drawing using the grid
Why might an artist choose to use a grid? In what ways is it helpful?
In what part of your drawing is your lightest value
used? Where are the two middle values
used? Where does your darkest value
appear in your drawing?
Overall questions
What is your favorite part of this art
project? Observational or Grid?
If you were to do these drawings again, what would
you do differently? What did you find most difficult about these drawings?
What letter grade do you believe you deserve for this project?
